Trainer Battles
This entrance to my portfolio is a fan made tabletop fan game, created by a friend, based on and making use of assets and characters of the Pokémon series. The actual gameplay is something new and creative with inspirations from other tabletop card games that my friend has played over the years. The game itself is a working prototype to later potentially have the Pokémon references exchanged for custom intellectual property created by us. This was worked on from September 2021 to March 2023.
My role in this project was to assist with the layout and design of the cards, gameboard and peripheral pieces and documents. This project was tested digitally on a game server, which allowed for the use of game code of which I did not have too much a part of, but allowed us to bring certain parts of the game to life. Also one custom 3D asset, which I modeled in Blender.

The Starter cards (below) originated as a front and back card depicting an image of a pokémon and the corresponding image of the same pokémon knocked out. They were changed to a front and back card depicting the pokémon and the corresponding image of the same pokémon in a secondary evolved form with better skills. This alternate evolved side can be unlocked during gameplay. The K.O. images were replaced by the Knock Out Chip that is placed on a starter once it temporarily runs out of life points in a round.
